Nothing pulls me into a state of flow like making illustrations. I can spend an entire Saturday bringing a little world to life, while the sun moves from one side of the house to the other...
7 Bridges / 9 Parks / 1 River is a celebration of the natural and built environments of downtown Minneapolis. I created this art for the 2019 Posters for Parks show, which raises money to support Minneapolis parks. The design was a crowd favorite — it was one of only 2 posters that sold out at the show. People enjoy identifying all the bridges, so here they are (top to bottom): Hennepin Ave., 3rd Ave., Stone Arch, 35W, 10th Ave., Northern Pacific #9, and Washington Ave.
Dittmer Farm, Before a Storm. Personal project.
My favorite place to ride is in the city. I love the sites, the layers of history, the hustle and bustle. When the design team at Quality Bicycle Products was given the opportunity to create a series of posters depicting different kinds of riding, I chose to illustrate the energy of urban cycling. Around Town was displayed at our Frostbike industry event in 2018; poster sales supported NICA (the National Interscholastic Cycling Association).
HONORS: "Campus in Winter" (left) won an Excellence Award for Illustration in 2010 from the University and College Designers' Association.
The challenge in designing Hamline University's holiday card was to create an image that felt festive and relevant without using specific religious or cultural elements. Scenes of the campus in all its wintery glory are great for striking a nostalgic chord in alumni and anyone who has spent time at the university.
